Original Albert’s
April 6, 2008After a 9k run on Thursday and a 10k run on Saturday and 2 afternoons this weekend spent giving my car a thorough(ly anal) spring cleaning to get rid of all traces of road salt and mouse nests, I rewarded myself today with my first trip down to the newly-opened Original Albert’s (Non-Rolling Lunch). Its new brick-and-mortar digs are in the last building on Michigan Avenue in Point Edward before you get to the parklands under the bridges and the place was packed on this beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon.
(At this point, I’d like to point out that there were more people lined up for Albert’s (right out the door onto the sidewalk) than there were altogether for the three (lesser) chip trucks in those primo spots underneath the bridges.)
And the verdict is… the chips still reign supreme! Yep, they taste the same as they did in the truck–golden and crispy on the outside, hot and tender on the inside–and the truck’s original vinegar spray nozzle dangles at the serving window inside the restaurant. All is well with the world!
